HOW TO PREPARE FOR WINTER DRIVING
How To Prepare For Driving In Winter Weather
Before the winter months arrive, make sure your car is ready for the snow and ice.
If you live in an area that is prone to winter weather, then you probably already have some of the supplies that you need.
The first thing to put on your car is a good snow tire.
You need something with a thick tread so that it will maneuver through the snow.
Chains are also good to add to the tires. These will help most in deep snow levels or on ice.
Make sure you have plenty of antifreeze in your car. If you run water through your radiator in the summer, drain it
and put antifreeze in the entire system so that your lines do not freeze.
Check your heater to be sure it works.
Keep an emergency kit in the back of your car in case you are stranded in the snow
or if you wreck your vehicle. Deicer for the windshield and locks are essential items to have for cold mornings.

SEAT BELTS
Three Reasons Everyone Should Wear A Seat Belt
Over the years, seat belts have improved. They are more comfortable to use, and they are more efficient
if involved in a traffic accident. Three reasons make it important for individuals to buckle up when driving or
riding in an automobile.
The statistics have shown that sometimes wearing a seat belt can prevent a death or serious injury during a vehicle crash.
This is the number one reason for wearing a seat belt.
Another good reason to wear a seat belt. Is to keep from being ejected from the vehicle during an accident.
People wearing a seat belt will have a better chance of surviving a crash if they are not ejected.
Being ejected can cause the vehicle to roll over on the occupant and cause death or severe injury.
The third reason to buckle up a seat belt is to obey the law. In some states, it is illegal to drive without wearing a seat belt.
If you are not properly restrained with a seat belt, you may be giving a citation.
The seat belt should be worn properly to be effective. The belt should not be worn loose or twisted.
It should fit comfortably across the lap and chest.

TEACHING TEENS
Teaching Teens The Proper Way To Drive
Teaching teens the proper way to drive is more than simply telling them how to check their mirrors and follow
the speed limits posted. Teaching a teen the proper way to drive includes teaching them that there are certain things
they are required to do when and if a situation arises.
For example, you should teach a teen what to do should their car ever break down on the side of the road.
The first step would{C} be for them to pull as far off the road as possible and to turn on their flashing lights.
They should also exit the vehicle and move as far off the road as possible to prevent injury should another
car accidentally hit theirs on the side of the road. They should also call their parents to ask them to handle the situation.
Additionally, teen drivers need to know that it is okay if they are uncomfortable pulling over for a police officer on a deserted,
unlit road at night. They need to know to call the police and ask for the operator to confirm that a real police officer is in fact
trying to pull him over before he pulls over. Or he can wait until he finds a well lit, busy area to pull over for safety measures.

AGEING FACTOR
How Your Driving Gets Worse As You Age
Safety on the road is an important issue for all drivers, but even more so for aged drivers.
The fact is that the aging process will have an effect on your ability to drive safely.
The following are some things that an aging driver must consider:
It is a well known fact that the reflexes often slow down as you age. When driving, it is important to stay focused on
your driving. Keeping a good distance from the vehicles in{C} front of you will provide you with extra time to react
hould you need it.
You may also find that your body is not giving you enough turning mobility in your vehicle. In this situation,
you may need to add pillow support to your seat or adjust your mirrors differently to make sure that you can see
both in front of your vehicle and behind. Extra mirrors can also be added to the vehicle, if necessary.
As you age, you may also find that you are not able to do the things you used to, including changing a tire.
Keeping your car in top notch condition and carrying a cell phone at all times is very important, as a breakdown
on the side of the road could be very risky.

TRAFFIC CONJESTION
Why Does Traffic Increase During Summer?
No one enjoys traffic, whether it is 5:00'clock traffic or weekend traffic, no one enjoys it.
Unfortunately, there are times of the year that you know means more traffic will be on the road and your daily
commute will be slower than ever.
The summertime is a particularly busy time on the roads. The reason for this is because school is out.
High school students with cars of their own are on the road throughout the day because they do not have
class to keep them busy. College students are out and about for the same reasons.
Teachers do not work during the summer so hundreds of thousands of extra people are not at work or school,
which means they are on the roads contributing to the excess traffic problem.
In addition to this, summertime is perhaps the busiest travel time of the year.
Because children are out of school, families use this time to go on vacation.
Some fly and others drive, which makes the roads even busier.
Even more unfortunate are the conditions of the roads during the summer in big tourist cities;
residents there will really notice an increase in traffic during the summer whether they like it or not.

SPEEDING
Why You Shouldn’t Speed In Neighborhoods
Speeding is against the law for obvious reasons; driving too fast is dangerous and potentially deadly not just for you
but for the people on the road at the same time as you.
Speeding results in expensive speeding tickets and potentially points on your driver license.
Obtaining a speeding ticket means you must take a drivers class to remove the points from your license;
after a certain number of points your license is suspended.
While it is considered dangerous to speed on any road, it is particularly dangerous to speed through
residential neighborhoods. Residential neighborhoods are where families reside with their young children.
It is where children play in their yards and where family pets run around to play.
Joggers and walkers exercise in neighborhoods and families take morning and evening walks with their kids,
pets and babies in strollers. Speeding through a neighborhood is more dangerous than anywhere else because of
the chances of hitting a pedestrian on a walk or in their own front yard.
Even when parents are keeping a close eye on their children or pets, a bouncing ball or toy that blows into the street
could prompt a child to run into the street in a split second before mom or dad can reach the child.

COURTESY
Courtesy Goes A Long Way On The Road
Driving has become something of a hassle for many people. Many drivers on the road are inconsiderate of traffic rules
and requirements and make driving miserable an unenjoyable for everyone else on the road.
Fortunately, there is a way to make driving easier and more enjoyable and perhaps even change the way people
drive one driver at a time.
Consideration on the road goes a long way. When traffic is heavy and you need to merge lanes to exit the highway,
it is frustrating when no one will let you in. However, when that one considerate driver stops and waves you on it makes
you feel good and maybe even prompts you to do the same, which starts a chain effect of consideration on the road.
When someone provides you a consideration on the road, the proper thing to do is to offer them a friendly wave.
Additionally, if every car lets one in front of them in heavy traffic then traffic will pick up and run much more smoothly.
Consideration on the road is something few people have, but those that do often inspire others to do something
considerate on the road. If everyone did that, driving would be so much more pleasant.
